A celebration is never complete without ice cream! And Mahoning Valley Historical Society is dedicating a whole day to the delicious treat. Sunday, July 20 is National Ice Cream Day, and MVHS is offering a fun filled day with free admission from noon to 4:00 pm at Tyler History Center. Arms Family Museum will be closed, as all activities will be held at Tyler History Center. Visitors will enjoy the nostalgic vocals of Exhibit A barbershop quartet, a sweet treats tour including information about Good Humor and its founder, Harry Burt, and the opportunity to make ice cream in the same building that created the famous ice cream sucker! This event is sponsored by the Joy Baking Group, and free ice cream is sponsored by Livi Steel.Bring the family and join us for some history, nostalgia and sweet treats!

Benefit for Rebel Rescue Ranch
“Tips For a Cause” will be held Tuesday, July 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Darlene Lounge—Modern Methods Brewery— 145 W. Market St. in Warren. All tips and other proceeds will go to Rebel Rescue Ranch, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that helps small domestic and exotic animals in need. The Theme of the night is “Christmas in July.” The first 25 guests will get a gift at the door. Costumes encouraged, and prizes awarded, so find your ugliest Christmas shorts! There’ll be a hula hoop contest, a photo wall, a basket raffle, and drink specials. The Totally 80s Ice Cream Truck and Babcia’s Lunchbox will be set up, with a vegetarian/vegan menu available. Rebel Rescue, located in Berlin Center, provides sanctuary, funding, vet care, and helps find homes for unwanted or abandoned pets.
